In the Venturi pipe the dashes sprint through the throat while the piezometer columns dip by exactly the speed they gained; push the flow and the throat cavitates. Then open the tank: the level slides down the square-root law and the jet lands precisely on its calculated mark. Swap in mercury, or take the whole bench to the Moon. Zieh die Sonde durch drei verschieden geformte Gefäße: in gleicher Tiefe zeigt sie stur gleichen Druck und ignoriert die Form — doch die Bildunterschriften gestehen das Paradoxon: der Boden des ausladenden Gefäßes trägt weniger, als sein Wasser wiegt, der des verjüngten mehr.
